Top 3 Supplements to Manage Stress + Improve Sleep

Date

If you’re here, you’re probably feeling a bit (ahem … a lot!) stressed and are looking for ways to feel better. You probably want to feel more energized, and could benefit from an exceptional night’s sleep.

I have some good news: I get it; I’ve been there. I spent years feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, like stress was getting the best of me (and honestly, I still do sometimes — hello overscheduling problem! But I’m working on it). For me, and for so many of us when stress is heightened, sleep is one of the first things impacted. We can’t wind down; our minds are always active, focusing on that never-ending to-do list. We are constantly thinking about how we’re going to find the time to get everything done. So we don’t sleep well. We might have trouble falling asleep, we might have trouble staying asleep, and we ultimately wake up feeling less than ready to take on the day.

Here’s more good news: I’ve tried everything. I don’t even want to think about the money I’ve spent on supplements that didn’t work very well (or at all)! Based on all that trial and error over the years, I’ve learned there are simple solutions you can implement RIGHT NOW to get out of that stress loop and into a more relaxed state. I’ve pinpointed three amazing supplements that support better sleep, and, in turn, will provide you with more energy to take on your day. Who wouldn’t want that?

  1. Magnesium
  2. Magnesium might not be a surprise. It’s often touted as nature’s relaxant and is a popular supplement, for good reason. BUT, if you’ve taken magnesium and feel like it didn’t work for you, I encourage you to try again. You might not have been taking enough, and you might have been taking the wrong type. Look for a magnesium glycinate — this absorbs better than other varieties, so you’ll benefit more from it. As a bonus, magnesium is pretty inexpensive as far as supplements go, so you won’t have to break the bank.

  3. Sereniten Plus
  4. This supplement has a “cult following” and is such a staple with so many of my clients that I always have a case or two lying around. This product contains a specific protein called Lactium that has been clinically studied to help reduce stress, particularly in regards to lowering stress hormones, including cortisol. This is the perfect supplement to try if you’re feeling like stress is getting the best of you and interrupting your sleep.

  5. Brain Calm
  6. This supplement contains two of my favourite ingredients to help promote relaxation and sleep: GABA and passionflower. GABA is a neurotransmitter that helps to promote relaxation in the brain, which can help us fall asleep more quickly. Passionflower contains plant compounds that act a lot like GABA in the body, creating a further sense of relaxation. Brain Calm is a great option if you have trouble winding down at the end of the day, and can’t shut off your mind’s  to-do list.
